Korean Sentences about Honorific
In Korean culture there are four levels of politeness that are commonly used in daily conversation, these levels include:
1. Low informal, this level is commonly used to speak to peers or people who are younger in age.
2. High informal, this level is slightly higher than the previous level and its uses are similar.
3. Formal low respect, this level has an intermediate level of politeness. It is usually used when speaking to seniors or more respected people.
4. Formal high respect, this level is used for speaking to parents, teachers, superiors or respected business associates.
So so that you don't make a mistake in choosing the sentence you want to say to someone in Korean, try to pay attention to the following sentence examples!
Basic sentence:
- 저는 학생입니다. (Jeoneun haksaeng-imnida.) - I am a student. (Formal high respect)
- 선생님, 안녕하세요? (Seonsaengnim, annyonghaseyo?) - Good morning/afternoon, teacher. (Formal high respect)
- 감사합니다. (Gamsahabnida.) - Thank you. (Formal high respect)
- 고마워. (Gomawo.) -Thank you. (Low informal)
- 미안. (Mian.) -Sorry. (Low informal)
- 사랑해요 (Saranghaeyo.) -I love you. (High Informal)
More complex sentences:
- 어머니께서 요리를 잘 하십니다. (Eomeonikkeseo yori-reul jal hashimnida.) - My mom cooks very well. (Formal high respect)
- 아버지께 인사드려요. (Abeojikke inseo deureoyo.) - I would like to say hello to dad. (Formal low respect)

A brief explanation of honorifics:
- ~ㅂ니다/-습니다 (-imnida/-seumnida): This suffix is used to make the sentence more polite.
- ~(으)세요 (-(eu)seyo): This suffix is often used when asking for help or giving advice.
- ~(으)시- (-eu)si-): This suffix is used to show respect to an older or higher positioned person.
